About

OUR VISION

Boise Classical Academy inspires students to love learning by exploring Beauty, Goodness, and Truth in the Classical Christian tradition.

OUR MISSION

We seek to integrate the homeschool and classical traditions into an atmosphere that pursues education of mind, body, and soul. We promote a faith-based foundation, a classical curriculum, a partnership with families, and a dynamic learning environment.

BCA admits students

BCA admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, and other school-administered programs.

Features

Community

We are a community of teachers, parents, and students who together desire to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may prove what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. We believe that the mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled. We hope to kindle that fire by inspiring a Love of Beauty, Goodness, and Truth.

Great Conversation

We use the term Classical because our curriculum engages in the “Great Conversation,” which is the ongoing dialogue of the best ideas of Western Civilization. This includes reading and discussing the books of the Old and New Testament, the Greek philosophers and playwrights, the Roman statesmen, the medieval theologians, and the great scholars of the Modern Age. We encourage students to join this “Conversation” by interacting with the content using their hearts and minds, which can ultimately influence them to contribute their own insights to this ongoing conversation.

Approach

By Classical we also mean an integrated approach to learning, and we aim to provide a holistic education which includes History, Literature, Latin, Mathematics, and Science. BCA integrates into its curriculum a college-preparation program which includes SAT/ACT and CLEP exam instruction, College Counseling, transcript development, and an opportunity to earn college-credit through the history course.

God

Our education is Classical Christian because we acknowledge the Author of Creation and of Natural Law, a God who is all Powerful, all Knowing, and all Good. This means that there is purpose and design (telos) in all Creation, including the lives of every individual. We believe that the purpose of the Christian life is to follow Jesus, who is the standard of life for all believers, who restores our relationship with God by teaching us “not my will, but Thy will be done,” which is expressed through loving God and loving our neighbor. These beliefs are essential to understanding all disciplines, whether Humanities, Mathematics, or Natural Sciences, because it provides a framework for objective truths of true and false, right and wrong, good and bad, and points us to Christ as the meaning of life.

Our Teacher

Our teachers are highly educated and specially chosen for this school because of their genuine love of learning and passion for the subject they teach. A true love of learning allows our teachers to teach in dynamic ways. By incorporating a range of activities such as discussions, games, and creative projects, the teachers connect to students who have varied learning styles.

Connection

We believe that when teachers take the time to personally connect with students, both teachers and students are richly rewarded by a relationship built upon the love of learning. Above all, we believe that teachers are meant to teach by example; they are to model an upright character, consequently inspiring students to pursue goodness, truth, and beauty by themselves.
